Stereo Mutants Ft Neve – Turning Around_Duffnote
The Stereo Mutants return with another fine track, at the moment these guys must never sleep with the amount of quality productions at are being released at the moment. This time the Mutants have got into the studio with vocalist Neve and the result is nothing short of amazing. The vocal performance on this actually reminds me of Solu Music and Fade. The original mix by the Mutants has Neves vocal drifting in and out with an almost whispered vocal and some extremely tight production and a track that’s made for the summer season. Next up is the Deeper Dub that has the more mainroom charm that will work so well destroying the clubs around the world. The name of this next mix says it all the Richard Earnshaw Sundrop mix, this is made for sunsets at Savannah and Cafe Del Mar its full of Soulful goodness and is just asking for the sun. K-Bana supply a totally different mix with compared to the other a slightly laidback Jackin style mix going on. To finish this track of we have kindly be supplied with a radio edit. This package has just come in time for the summer season and I can see this getting played all over the cooler bars in Ibiza during the summer. (Antony Angell)
Sandy Spady – Million To One_Daddyfunk45
Daddyfunk45 team up with Sandy Spady to give us a vocal workout just in time for the summer season. On this release we are totally spoiled with the grand total of 11 mixes and instrumentals. First we go with Tony Loreto and his vocal mix and a mainroom feel to this Soulful track, this mix has that a slight electro infused bassline. Next is the Afrotec Vocal mix, as the name of the remix tells us its along the Afro beats sound with a Tribal edge that will light up any floor at any time around the world, also on this package we have a instrumental from Afrotec as well. Next on this jam packed package is Black Sonix turn, four mixes from these guys have really gone to work. The Oldskool Vocal is the one we will explore first, an RnB type of mix with a nice seductive bassline this is a nice down tempo version that will work in early sets or those more Soulful moments and excellent vocal talents of Sandy. The next 3 mixes are all instrumentals, we have an Oldskool instrumental, an Oldskool Vibe beats and also Afrotec beats. Next we have Filin Brake with a Deepah Cut mix which has some Deep sounding keys and a Central Avenue vibe going on, next is the Filin Brake Dub version which steps up a gear or two after the Deephah Cut, this mix is alot more Funky with a nice little percussion and live feel going on. Finally on this package is the Johnny Montana & Craig Stewart and the awesome Vocal mix from these guys, this is a percussion led mix that with an old school keys along the Rhodes style and mixed up with a Church Organ too running throughout this mix. This has to be the standout remix out of the 11 and also we are kindly supplied with an instrumental. Awesome package with some brilliant remixes from the guys at Daddyfunk45, it good to see that the quality has remained even tho so many mixes have been supplied. It really is a case of quanity and quality. (Antony Angell)
Cassius – 99_Virgin
Cassius return with the 1999 track with some brand new remixes for 2010, we have 3 remixes on this fantastic new package including the Original re-mastered version, this mix has totally been beefed up for the new package, the very catchy vocal is in full effect and this mix sounds as good as it did back in the day, the same Jackin sounding beats and uplifting sound are present. Next up is the Reset! Remix, a little bit more of a pumped up version with some fantastic rolling beats before the vocal kicks in, this mix has an electro, Jackin vibe going on that with have the floors dancing like its 1999 all over again, the best way I can describe this mix is like the new Black Box rework but on steroids. Finally on this package is Tim Green, this mix has a very nice guitar rift and some cheering and whistling at the start, this sets the mood for the track that builds and builds before Cassius gets in the House, this mix is alot more laidback that the others and will easily drop into more laidback early doors type of sets, a very Funky workout indeed. I’m really feeling these new mixes and even tho I wasn’t sure when I first had a listen these have most defiantly grown on me, well worth checking out (Antony Angell)
Danny Clarke & Jay Benham Ft Nica Brooke – Giving Only_Solid Ground
The ever dependable Solid Ground give us another monster House track, the mixes on this release come from Atjazz, Thomas Toccafondi, Underground Collective and the Peaktime mix. First up is the Atjazz set of mixes which include a vocal and Internal Dub, a very Deep underground House feel track with a fantastic vocal and a very some emotionally infused keys, this has to be one of Atjazz’s finest work so far. Next is the Internal Dub, this is a down tempo mix that has an almost breakbeat feel going on and is so chilled out and will fit into Naked Music style set no problem. Next is the Original mix, big synths start this mix before a strong Balearic sounding beat and the very excellent vocal from Nica Brooke starts, a good strong remix with a monster breakdown that shows Nica vocal off to full effect. It’s time to step up the ante and go over to the more mainroom mixes, first we have the peaktime mix, the peaktime mix is full of the vibe that will rock the room at any time of the night, all the elements are here for a future anthem in the making. Thomas Toccafondi is next up as we near the end of the mixes, Thomas keeps very true to the Original but adds a whole new element, a slightly more of an electro twist that makes the mix come alive. Finally is the Underground Collective aka Marlon D and this guy really does know how to work up a storm, strong driving bass with some deep keys before a very uplifting keys section and a totally true vocal that is strong enough to melt any heart. All in all a brilliant package with a good varied selection of remixes that will fit onto a floor and any set. (Antony Angell)
Jonn Hawley – Soul Dweller EP_Large Music
Jonn Hawley releases his Soul Dweller EP on Large Music, 3 different tracks all along the lines of Deep, Funky and Underground House which is a hard thing to do but its been very well executed on this package. First is Jonn Hawley featuring Fourfeet with the track titled Session, this is a very nice laidback track with an awesome Saxaphone solo and the brilliant Deep vocal from Fourfeet. Next is Jay Thomas’s collaboration with Jonn Hawley, this track has the chugging beats that you would expect from a Deep Chicago style track, the hypnotic mesmerizing vocals of Jay well and truly set the mood and will fit into an set and is the type of track that alot of DJs will no doubt be supporting. Chitown Dweller is finally up on this package, this is a spoken word track with a gently building cords section in the background and it goes Deep and would smash mainroom sets. (Antony Angell)
Stockholm Disco Ft Laura Estrada – I Don’t Need You Anymore_Discopolis
The label goes from strength to strength and yet again label boss Carl Hanaghan has signed another monster of a track. This time Stockholm Disco are up with four mixes to suit all floors from the cool to the more edgy electro. We will start with the Club mix which is pure Hed Kandi anthem madness, big synth breakdowns and cutting edge vocals, Laura has one of those voices that just makes you want to get up and dance. Next is Dick Ray Zouk mix is a little more mainroom and with a tougher edge but still keeping the vibe of the Club, Laura still provides an awesome vocal performance and the track has that hands in air clap along vibe going on. Albert Nerve and his 3BL remix is next up, this mix is tougher than the Dick Ray rework and has an almost Tech House vibe going on but with the outstanding vocal again. Finally on this outstanding package is the Radio edit, ideal for all the stations to pick up and make this a monster hit. Awesome track with some excellent remixes that with ignite any floor anywhere around the world. (Antony Angell)
